Hey guys!

I need to tell you that this diving here is so good! Of course that it’s most unlikely to see a whale shark swimming by but you can see many spectacular things here as well. What I like here is how easy access you have to the dive sites, well you need to survive the crazy maltese drivers but when you get to the dive site by car it’s only one step from the water. The sites are incredible, close to the Gozo ferry you have a place called Cirkewwa. A reef designed for divers for all levels. You have two cool wrecks from the World war 2 and a great reef where you can find a “gnome garden” , nudibranchs, octopus, trevallies and so much more. It is one fun story about a statue down in a cavern at 15m, called the Madonna. Malta is a very religious country and every sunday the faithfull goes to church. But this group of divers wanted to go diving so they took down a saint under the surface and had their own church at their favourite dive site. The madonna is still there and I actually asked madonna to bless my diving and so far she has.

My favourite wreck dive so far must have been Um el faroud. It is a big Libyan tank ship that was operating between Italy, England and Libya. During maintenance in Valletta  harbour 1995 a gas explosion erupted and nine people lost their lives. A monument has been created close to the wreck at the sea bottom to honour the people who lost their lives.
Great dive and to swim through the exploded wreck is hard to explain, it’s just amazing

I picked Marika late from the airport, her flight was delayed from Frankfurt. So nice to see her again and i couldn’t wait to share and plan the rest of the season. When I got back from work the next day a energized and happy Marika was meeting me at the door. She had packed up all her things and had taking down the “ugly” paintings of birds over our bed. We also refurnish the room to get more space. Now it feel like a home, we always take a run or a walk on the evenings. Marika has started to bring sticks and other things to design and write quotes on.
We had our days off on sunday and enjoyed it by going to Valetta to explore. Great city and a beautiful but windy day.

Now I’m just in the middle of teaching a course and Marika is still fun diving at cool wrecks and reefs to get to know the place around. Tomorrow is her first day at the Um el Faroud. I know she will love it

Have it great around the world.

A week in Malta

It’s now passed a few days since i arrived to Malta. The flight and the transfer went very smoothly and was in the dive shop around 12 o clock. There i met Lindsey for the first time, we had a little chat and she showed me around then Kevin came around and he took me to my apartment. Kevin and Lindsey are the managers in Go dive Malta.  The apartment is very nice, A new kitchen was installed and two balconies. Me and Marika have one room and we will share the house with 3 other people. So at the moment the apartment is big because I’m all alone in it. The rooftop is open and is great for watching the sunset or to use it as a sun deck.

This couple of days has been ful focus on me to learn how to drive, how the dive sites look like and the work in the shop. Much to learn but will get easier for each day.
The diving here is over my expectations. The visibility is great and a lot of fun stuff to see. We have done some really cool wrecks so far. One was a tank ship and was 110m long that exploded in the harbour in Malta.
P31 is a destroyer on snow white sand! It’s beautiful.

Meliha is the name of the town I’m staying in. A nice village build up around a church on a hill.
My block is down the hill closer to the water. It’s great to come out with your morning coffe and see the BLUE ocean.
There are some good bars and restaurants here but here in Malta we will try to cook the most of the food, not like in Thailand where we ate out every night. With this good kitchen I think it would be a waste not using it.

Marika is soon here!! She will arrive on wednesday evening. Can’t wait to hold my arms around her again. But this week it’s time for me to start work for real.
No more learning period, now I’m in charge!!

Today I had a day off. I was planning to go to the red tower that is watching over Mellieha bay. It’s a long walk, but with easy steps I got there quickly. What I didn’t know was that the road continued until a got to the edge of Malta. It was a high fall down but wow what a view from there. Feeling that walk in my legs at the moment. Not sure when I walked so far as I did today, but so worth it!

My home and Sweden to my home in Malta

Hey guys!

It's time for a new work season on the European island, Malta.
Sitting on the small Ryanair chairs with a baby behind me that smacks the back of my seats, I starting to think back.
Think back on the days in Italy and Sweden with my lovely family and friends

Straight from Thailand I headed to Garda Lake in Italy. Well not really straight, the plane did a 24 hours unplanned stop in New Delhi in India. Nice to see India but that is not something I want to experience again..
I arrived to the train station in Rovato and there I have three people running quickly against me at the train platform.
My mom, dad and my brother Eric was there to pick me up and the following days we celebrated my mom who turned 50!! climbed a mountain, visit wine farms and just enjoying Italy.

Back in Sweden i met up with some friends and helping  to prepare for my moms 50 years party.

When almost three weeks had gone without seeing Marika, she took a plane from Finland to see how I live in Sweden. It was three wonderful days and nice to see her. If you are not a Swedish sauna champion, never challenge a Finnish on a sauna competition, you will lose.
I'm not sure but maybe she likes Sweden a little bit more than Finland…
Today I arrived in my apartment in Malta and met up with the most of the people I will work with for 6 months.
Malta will be a time for me to gain a lot of experience in  instructing people to dive.
The water will be cold and to live in an apartment with three others will be fun and exciting.
Can't wait to get Marika down in one week.
That is actually a new thing for me as well…
To sleep next to a hot Finnish girl for 6 months

Thanks to everybody that is supporting and helping  me in what I'm doing.

Come and dive with me in Malta!
